Neutering is one of the most important things you can do for your cat and for cat welfare in Orkney.
Adopted from us?
We offer completely FREE neutering for any cat or kitten adopted through Orkney Cats. Your neutering voucher is included in the £50 adoption fee.
Simply present your voucher at your vet appointment and we will cover the cost.

Community neutering
We have previously offered subsidised neutering vouchers to help make this important procedure more affordable for cat owners in our community.
Unfortunately, due to our current financial situation, we are unable to offer community neutering vouchers at this time.
We hope to bring this programme back as soon as we are able. In the meantime, please speak to your vet about neutering options, and consider becoming a Friend or making a donation to help us recover.
Why neuter?
- Prevents unwanted litters — a single pair of cats can produce hundreds of descendants in just a few years
- Reduces roaming and fighting, lowering the risk of injury and disease
- Eliminates the risk of certain cancers and infections
- Helps manage the stray and feral cat population in Orkney
- Neutered cats tend to live longer, healthier lives
